Local mom creates The Give Bag

Hello Momtrepreneurs,

Our featured momtrepreneur this month is Tamara Pilosi-Keith inventor of Baby Buckle Pad®, winner of the Creative Child 2011 Top Choice Parent Award. Baby Buckle Pad® has been featured on national TV including CBS, NBS, ABC and Fox networks.

1. Tell us about yourself and your business. 

    I am a serial entrepreneur. Before, my husband & I started a family, I founded, operated then sold my floral retail, Tamara's Flower Garden, business after 8 yrs. It is still in operation in Delray Beach. When my daughter was 1, I started an Over 30 Moms Group which I organized for 2.5 yrs before stepping down. In 2007, I created the Baby Buckle Pad® and the journey that I am still pursuing with the product. I have also on February 28, 2011 become an consultant for Dove Chocolate Discoveries. I love chocolate and this was a great way to earn cash to help with marketing my Baby Buckle Pad®.

2. What is your inspiration for your business/product? 

    My daughter. Momma Edison began when I accidentally pinched my squirming baby daughter's thighs buckling her into her car seat. I felt AWFUL!!! tried to buy an aftermarket pad and nothing was available so I solved the problem myself, The Baby Buckle Pad®!

3. How do you balance work and home? 

    LOL, sometimes not very good but I always seem to make my deadlines. It is easier the older my daughter gets plus with her starting Kindergarten this year - I will have more time for work but sad to see our time together diminish.

 
4. What is the most rewarding thing about being a momtrepreneur? 

    Spending time with my daughter while staying at home and yet pursuing a business. 

5. How do you promote your business? 

    Via giveaways, referrals, FB, etc some trade ads but hoping to re-hire my PR guy next year.

6. What keeps you motivated? 

    My fans and other moms....of course, friends and families. And yes, re-orders by my retailers. :)

7. What is your biggest success? 

    When Momma Edison's Baby Buckle Pad® won the 2011 Creative Child TOP CHOICE Parent Award Winner Baby Buckle Pad® for Safety and Parenting Aides! It definitely gets more heads turning. Oh, and of course my first sale ever of a Baby Buckle Pad®...wow, somebody bought my product that I developed!

8. What advice would you give other moms in business? 

    HANG IN THERE!!! It is a long and rewarding journey but with patience you will move forward.

9. How can we help you became more successful? 

    Networking and continued blogging and FB post are great! Host a tasting party with my DCD Chocolatier business and a giveaway for a BBP.
