Our featured Momtrepreneur this month is Alexis Zepatos-Campbell, owner of Alexis Campbell Event Styling.
Tell us about yourself.
I'm a mom of two little boys and married to the man of my dreams.
What inspired you to start your business?
My love for parties started when I got engaged. I was that little girl that planned her wedding at a very young age, so once I got engaged I knew just what I wanted. I planned my engagement party, bridal shower and wedding adding all of the little details I've always loved. When I had my oldest son, I couldn't wait to plan his first birthday. We had a Mickey Mouse theme party and I enjoyed all of the hard work that went into it. When he turned two, I planned a huge ice cream theme party for 50 people and made all of the desserts myself. I have met a few really wonderful people in the business that helped with the paper goods and decorations for his party. After his party, people started asking me if I did it for a living and if I could plan their childs birthday, or baby shower, etc. I submitted the party to Kara's Party Ideas and she featured it. I was in shock! A few months later The Tomkat Studio featured the party again. Since then I have been a busy meeting new people and getting tons of new clients.
What is your secret in managing a business and family?
Balancing the job and kids for me hasn't been that hard. I do a lot of the work at night when they go to sleep. My boys love taking trips with me to Michael's and JoAnn Fabric and love to help me cut things out and glue things together.
How do you promote your business?
I'm still working on my marketing and getting my name out there.
What is your biggest success?
My son just turned one last week and we had a monkey theme party for him that turned out adorable. I put my heart and soul into that party and it showed. The party will be featured on Hostess with The Mostess in September.
